These developers like the vast majority are not benevolent philanthropists, or progressives like Carnegie, Peabody, Coram, Passmore Edwards,Shaftesbury,Guinness and even Cadbury who provided a gamut of infrastructure from homes to libraries to Hospitals. They are sharhlder based corporates who want maximum gain from minimal expense. No-one really know what the cost of some of their developments really is but the profits are huge as are the dividends in almost every case. Some of these companies have extremely shaky footings but still manage to get away with it as investors know that if they pull it off they will get a tidy profit. But what towns and communities get left with is far from the promise of streets paved with gold. Hounslow and Ealing residents and politicians irrespective of party colours should be very, very, wary and not get taken in by the shiny jewels in the box. They may well be fakes. |
