Paul I wouldn't expect them to mention the contribution made by the Community Group. But the complete lack of any reference to the Mogden Residents' Action Group (MRAG), which has led the campaign for many years and was responsible for bringing the successful court action against Thames Water, is altogether more sinister and gives us an insight into the real agenda behind this leaflet, other than its obvious electoral function. It also confirms the ICG's long-held view that this administration has an atavistic sense of aversion towards any kind of independent activity arising from within the community, which Isleworth Public Hall campaigners would do well to note. By plugging the LBH helpline to the exclusion of the MRAG contact address the authors of the leaflet are clearly hoping to undermine MRAG. The idea that residents suffering the stench should abandon their own efforts and instead place all their faith in a local authority which has signally failed them for many, many years is grotesque. One must really ask who would benefit the most from having MRAG taken out of the picture. Once that question is answered - and the answer is simple enough - everything quickly becomes clear. |
