When the overhead section of the M4 in Brentford was being considered in the early 1960s (the Chiswick Flyover was already there from 1959) there was much concern about the sharpness of the bend in the road both eastbound and westbound.  It was considered to be outside the normal design criteria for new roadways.. but an exception was made. It seems crazy that when travelling by vehicle eastbound...easing around the gentle but significant right hand bend..that one's eyes should meet the bulbous structure being called the Octopus...when drivers should keeping their eyes on the road...even for fractions of a second. I'm already aghast that cars and vans are allowed to park at the top of Harvard Hill in Chiswick...just yards away from the westbound fast moving traffic..and a serious accident there seems likely there one day. That 1/2 mile stretch of roadway/motorway from Clayponds Avenue to Harvard Hill is being poorly respected... in my view.
