| Dawn At the last meeting of the Isleworth and Brentford Area Monitoring Committee the Syon Labour councillor Theo Dennison suggested moving the (public) Open Forum section of the meeting to the top of the agenda for future meetings to enable better public participation. He was rounded on by councillors from both parties, some of whom seemed to think the Chair was doing the public a big favour allowing them to speak at all (the Brentford Labour councillor Mel Collins referred to us in the public area as an "audience" and congratulated the Chair for his "tolerance" in allowing us to speak). It is depressing to think that there is still such a long way to go despite the bureaucracy having been exposed to four years of major Community input at councillor level, and that in the end it will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. |
