| Naughty Dave. Seems Polanski didn’t pay any council tax for three years on the houseboat in Hackney where he and his partner lived. Claims he only stayed there ‘occasionally’, despite it being his postal address and, crucially, where he was registered to vote. No mention of his dentist being there though. Apparently it was a ‘mistake’ as he thought his council tax was paid by the landlord of a house in another part of London where he lodged ‘occasionally’. It does raise questions about Zack’s honesty and integrity, as well as his intelligence. More seriously he will have signed a declaration of residency to get on the electoral roll. Staying somewhere ‘occasionally’ doesn’t meet the legal threshold for that. Knowingly or recklessly giving false information on an electoral registration is a criminal offence punishable by up to two years in prison. Polanski will have known where he lived. Otherwise he’s spectacularly stupid. No doubt Zack and his supporters will claim it’s not important, but if this guy wants to be taken seriously as a politician then he should abide by the laws and rules the rest of us have to. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy02wdzrg6jo |
