I agree with Vanessa. We cannot create a parallel universe in which Church St stays open or goes one-way in order to prove whether Wyevale would have closed anyway or not, but the fact is the councillors had the opportunity to back Wyevale and the large number of people concerned about congestion, or Church St residents, and chose the latter. Ironically, if it ends up with more people visiting the Osterley site, it may well increase car use as Osterley Wyevale is in 'the middle of nowhere', with no public transport going nearer than the circuitous H28 bus (about 5 mins), and virtually no physical local residents either, so anyone going there will almost certainly drive. Furthermore, its outdoor facility is a small ugly patio cum storage area not designed to encourage people to visit for tea and cake on a sunny day. |
