No - Church St. was not only one way - so if you exited Syon Park you could go left via Church St. and on to South St./ Twickenham Rd. Isleworth OR down St. Margarets Rd. to Twickenham. Alternativelt you could turn right out of Syon up to the Park Rd. junction with Twickenham Rd. At the risk of boring people to death - Church St. was busy - no denying that, but it also helped disperse traffic. If you lived here you would also be aware of the colossal difference closing that road has made. We also are dealing with an estate that wants to maximise the potential of this site now, and that - trust me - is not going to be good news for local people. Yes, Wyevale as a business may well have been struggling - but none of this can have helped, and anyway what everyone really seems to forget is that 72% of over 700 people who responded to the consultation re whether or not to close Church St. permanently voted NO - much good did that do. |
