I entirely support what Rosemary has said, there's no two ways about it there would be a conflict between pedestrians and cyclists outside the Public Hall, throw in the bus stop there as well with people waiting and won't that be fun? On top of that the matter of the heavily trafficked Worple Rd./Ave. now used as a cut through both ways, being proposed as a cycleway from the Twickenham Rd. down to South St. is an accident waiting to happen. Yes, we should encourage cycling but putting cyclists in such close proximity to heavy traffic and pedestrians is not the way. To imply that The Isleworth Society's concerns are just confined to the Glossop Memorial is unfair and incorrect, the conservation area this cycleway will run through is one the Society strives to protect, but they also look at the whole picture and the impact on local residents of these proposals, not least the safety concerns. |
