On Saturday I went shopping on Hounslow High Street. What an intimidating, scary experience. I was repeatedly followed by two men working as a team. One following me in/around the shops, the other waiting outside. This was so blatant I had to abandon my shopping and focus on getting out safely with my handbag in tact. I landed up going for a coffee to be amongst a crowd and hoping they'd get bored and leave. Eventually, they left and the next time I saw them they were trying multiple cards in a bank cash point. Unfortunately, I couldn't see a single police person on the entire high street, something these groups know and are taking full advantage of. The 'gangs' standing along the high street are so blatant. Is anything being done to ensure the safety of shoppers with such obvious criminality? I've travelled abroad extensively on my own yet now, the only area I wouldn't return to, my own borough's high street! |
