Ah, long gone are the days of a leisurely pub crawl through the green and verdant countryside, along what was called "The Drunken Mile". In those days, got beer and a bag of crisps if you were lucky, or a curled edged sandwich. Unlikely to hit much on the steep, wriggly lanes - toppling into a ditch was the worst that might happen. The good news is that all the pubs on that Drunken Mile have survived and flourished, most serving local ales as well as excellent food. Nowadays it takes 7 days to visit them all, unless strictly on ginger beer of course. |
