He was caught successfully and has been neutered. He will be re-homed. All cats and kittens looked after by HAWS go to homes that are home-checked by a HAWS volunteer.  If your friend lives, for example, in East London, unless there is a HAWS volunteer in that area a home-check cannot take place.  Good homes are always needed but you will appreciate they must be checked first.  If your friend would like to adopt kittens, any good rescue centre will make similar checks - especially to avoid a situation like the little ginger ex-Tom.
