Respect where it is due to Councillor Sampson for having achieved this accolade.  The ways of the Labour Group in this borough are not for me, but she has found herself well-suited to the world of cajolery, sleight of hand and wheeler-dealing which defines this organisation locally and, having demonstrated great loyalty in helping to sustain her gormless leader, this was a cheque which was always going to be cashed sooner or later. This appointment, in the year approaching the local council elections, tells us much more about Labour in Hounslow and the sense it has of its own invulnerability than it does about Councillor Sampson.  I wish her all the very best of luck for the coming year.
