Much said over vehicle pollution and much blamed on traffic. So why is it that what used to be a two truck refuse and recycling service now uses 3 trucks? That the wheelie bin truck takes 5 times longer to empty the bins in the street, causing idling traffic to queue. Why are brand new manually loaded trucks not electric or hybrid? City of London do it and have done for many years. How does this save money? Add to that a development that threatens to remove a proper supermarket with adequate parking from the heart of the town, facing hundreds to make additional car journeys and one wonders why joined up thinking is completely absent in this borough. |
