I'm sure there could be a very good cartoon. It takes much longer to load wheelie bins and manoeuvre a very big lorry than when the operatives raced up and down the street chucking the black bags into a pile. It is a shame more residents weren't more careful in safeguarding the bags until they were picked up but that is partly the Council's fault in not working with residents. Many Councils now use gull proof bags where there is a problem People should be encouraged more to make a lot less residual waste. Unless you have nappies and/or sanitary waste it is unlikely that you will have more than one black sack. Some Councils tried see-through bags for the residual waste so that they could check whether people were separating their waste. As you can imagine that was not popular. The Rubbish Diet and Recycle Now are good websites to help. |
