Chris, The Busch Corner junction has never been 'the same' since TfL messed around with the timings prior to the Olympics. As Phil said, the time allocated to the right hand filter into London Road simply isn't appropriate for the level of traffic approaching from the south. The sequence isn't always the same - sometimes the right hand filter does last longer, but 75% of the time it only lasts for approximately 10 seconds. And when you consider there's often cars in the right hand lane who actually want to go straight on but can't join the left lane until the end of the bus stop, that 10 seconds barely lets more than 3-4 cars through (usually a couple more squeeze through on the red signal out of pure frustration). It might be okay in the middle of the day, but during the rush hour it is quite frankly a farce, and it's only a matter of time before there's a serious accident there. Having just read Councillor Harmer's monthly newsletter about the Ealing Road junction, which in my view is absolutely fine if you're driving with your eyes open and your brain functioning normally, I suggest TfL focus their attention on a junction which is a disaster waiting to happen due to it simply not functioning effectively. |
