| Let's hope the pledge on CCTV will not be kept. It will just be another waste of money! Even the Home Office's own research has concluded that CCTV has had negligible effects on deterring crime. It might make some citizens sleep easier in the mistaken belief that it does have some effect, but that does not justify 75% of the money available nationally for crime prevention being spent on something so spectacularly ineffective. |
