The simple fact is, that the BBC are obliged to give this odious but legal organisation airtime, however unpleasant we find it. If they didn't there would be howls of censorship, like it or not they are a legitimate Party and as such it seems, have a right to airtime. I don't know were it would stop, personally I don't like any of the main parties but I do watch their representatives to see where they are coming from (and taking us). I think the accusation that the BNP members interviewed had an easy time is probably justified, but in the BBCs defence the interviewer sounded very young and possibly inexperienced, that's no crime, we all have to start somewhere. Newsbeat is meant for a younger audience, I doubt they'd have had much of an audience left had Paxo been the interviewer. There were some good points raised in this review of the program, the relevant bit starts at 07:50 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00n1jb6/The_Media_Show_07_10_2009/ |
