| Indeed, politics seems to have overtaken this thread! Now, as I remember it, Mr Goldsmith used to cause a fair bit of intrigue in his local pub, the Globe, as he was rumoured to be fairly high up the 'Brentford's rich list' given the millions he reportedly got for selling off that one side of Performance Cars, yet would usually while away most nights supping one (and only one) of the two least expensive drinks in the house — either half a pint of Chiswick (always in a jug), or half a pint of orange squash. He was a real character though, and should have had an obituary in the local press... |
