I was out on the stump with the independents in SBL and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of awareness there is of what they are doing, and of their campaign. 

It's going to be a very uphill struggle for Labour locally to overcome the unpopularity of the government at national level, and one is tempted to feel a little sorry for them. 

However when you join a big party and accept all the organisational advantages that that brings, being a hostage to the fortunes of the national party I'm afraid is the down side of the deal.

Let's hope something emerges tomorrow from amid the fog which can finally clear out the rot for once and for all.
