To be fair to Ruth Cadbury she did ensure that her road got nicely resurfaced.

The problem with scrapping the BBC is what do you replace it with. Preferable would be a tightening of editorial control and employing people who are capable of doing the job properly. Some of the news and sports reporting is appalling.
