Careful Nigel, Guy will be calling you a Tory, which is the biggest insult he can hurl apparently.

The Labour chancellors have by and large been pretty poor, although Tory ones have not been much better (and worse, in the case of Kwarteng). But then the calibre of those in politics is pretty poor, nationally and locally.

For all his protestations of independence you will find Cllr Lambert is still a Labour supporter. It’s the local mafia he’s fallen out with, rather than the Labour movement. He’s a ‘socialist’, as he happily declared to protestors outside Waterman’s last year.
