Fair play to Ruth Cadbury for sticking to her principles. Starmer, Robot Rachel and co have set a new low in government incompetence. Labour avoided saying anything in its manifesto about aviation other than some vague nonsense about airspace ‘modernisation’ and sustainable fuel. Laughable that we have ULEZ imposed on us, yet having thousands more flights across London is okay. Strange, strange logic. Anyone seriously concerned about the environment and global warming should be discouraging flying. Maybe Robot Rachel was reprogrammed on her recent visit to China to be less green. The real winners in an expanded Heathrow will be the international investors (including Chinese and Qataris) who own the airport. Still, by the time it’s built in 2045 those holiday destinations like the Maldives will be somewhere alongside Atlantis, while the hurricane force winds lashing the UK will make flying even more fun, at least for those privileged few who can afford it by then! |
