The question is of Policing these. A good idea is being ruined by the widespread abuse of these machines. Just how are so many clearly kids riding them and dumping them outside other peoples homes, up alleyways, in parks , Rivers and overgrowth. How are they getting hold of them. The amount that have that auditable clicking generally means it has been hacked or is not an authorised use. Riding on pavements and really annoyingly both ways on single direction parts of cycleways and through lights is bad enough with adult riders but kids on electric vehicles ? Just who or what is insured should one come to grief? Will it be the fault of whoever hired it last? A legitimate road user? What if it's a pedestrian who gets hit or injured? It remains almost impossible to report or complain to Lime or LBH or Ealing or H&F for misuse and abuse, damage or injury. ( unless you have an account with them.) The responsibility and allowing of a Wild West culture on roads, pavements and footpaths has simply propagated a culture of disobedience and arrogance and not really surprising and new tool for crime. Another good idea badly managed to suit ideology without practicality. Now it is probably too late to fix. |
