I've just come from the Fountain centre and didn't - and don't - notice an odd smell. There again, I haven't got the keenest of noses. From my observations I would say that the Fountain fitness pool is used well by schools and certainly the leisure pool is well used by families at weekends and holidays. At other times it may well be under-used. The Fountain has not many months ago reinstated the wave machine (after years of it being out of action) and I was told by a lifeguard last week that the slide should be open in two weeks or so. Re the last one, I'll believe it when I see it as it has been out of action for five or so years. The pool changing rooms in the basement area rather leave something to be desired. However, new shower points in the open area were installed about six months ago. In the light of the above expenditure (and were air pumps or whatever they are called also installed only within the last year or so?) then closing the Fountain as is would seem - hopefully - highly unlikely. |
