| Actually there are no long term statistical data for this. As it's only technology and the inventions of the 20th century that have made surveying possible. However, deep ice surveys have revealed long term variable climate changes over long periods of time. This is better recorded in ancient trees worldwide. The rings and growth rates indicate decades if dry periods, hot periods cold periods and wet periods and then stable periods. Remember a single volcano can chuck into the atmosphere more toxins and pollutants in 24 hours than an entire industrial output worldwide can in 30 years. The ability of the planet to recover from that sort of natural pollution is amazing. The current situation has also shown how quickly the atmosphere dissipates man made pollution too. And In most of Europe, industrial and vehicles are far cleaner then 40 years ago and far cleaner gain than 70 years ago. The true problem is over population by humans with demands outstripping the ability to supply. That's not even on the main agenda for climate or environmental discussions or action. Just a 'sideline' issue. |
