| I think Jennifer was simply pointing out that the English went through this demographic shift several generations ago. The total fertility rate of indigenous English is below replacement yet we are still importing large numbers of people with higher rates. The outcome is mathematically predictable if nothing changes - at some point in this century the English will become a minority in large parts of this country (already the case in much of London). Some may view this as a positive, but history tells us that rapid changes of ethnic composition are usually accompanied by at least social unrest and maybe civil war. Note that Jennifer herself provides a good example of how we have been cowed into submission - she can't even use her own language to describe herself. Guy, some elements of your party have had a big hand in creating this situation, I look forward to Labour facing up to this and recognizing that silencing anyone who expresses doubts is not a route to power - but I'm not holding my breath. |
