The EU never stopped the French imposing their own restrictive practices in many fields including 'hidden' state subsidies. it will interesting to see the longevity of these when EU budgets come under far greater scrutiny following the UK's withdrawal. The EU has always pushed for total harmonisation, 'protecting' local interests flies in the face of this. |
