Like I say, superhighway is a silly name. It's just a proper cycle lane. Very few cyclists use the A4 because it's essentially a by-pass - built to take cars and lorries off suburban streets like Brentford High St, CHR, King Street.
Why should cycles which neither congest nor pollute be forced to use bypasses? I doubt you'd suggest that I walk to Chiswick by going up to the A4, crossing Chiswick roundabout, going up the ramp to the A4 then going up (say) Sutton Court Road. If you heard of someone doing this you'd think they had gone mad. Same if they're a cyclist. |
