So the nightmare of CPZ continues. Several months ago, Whitestile Road residents finally(and in some cases reluctantly) agreed to join the controlled parking zone that already exists on neighbouring streets (Enfield, Avenue, Grove, Eastbourne). The 'yes' vote was a response to increased pressure on limited parking spaces for residents throughout the day, as a result of the restrictions on surrounding roads. At the same time, South Ealing streets bordering Brentford have also voted for CPZ. This week, Ealing Council started to put the finishing touches on its preparations for the imminent rolling-out of CPZ from Darwin Road to Ealing Park Gardens / Lawrence Road. This means that within the next few days, Whitestile Road will become one of the only unrestricted parking zones in the area. This is going to make parking damn near impossible for Whitestile residents - punishment, perhaps, for their initial indecisiveness. The Council, apparently, have no plans to complete CPZ in North Brentford until at least July, although they seemed happy enough to push through controlled parking around the Lateward Road / St Paul's area as soon as they could without considering the impact on a local primary school. Proof once again that the part of our town north of the A4 is, at least politically, a forgotten slice of Brentford and that CPZ is indeed one of the curses of modern urban living. |
