I understand that site assembly for the development started many years ago by a predessesor to Ballymore and presume that Ballymore purchased the sites/options without reference to the council. As an owner within the development area the council could decide to have nothing to do with the redevelopment, and leave the south side of the high street as is. I doubt many would think this desirable. As you point out many Irish developers are in hock to the Irish 'Bad Bank' Are you suggesting that whenever LBH decided to talk to Ballymore they could have foreseen what was to happen to the world economy? If so I think you credit staff and councillors with unrealistic expectations.... |
