There is nothing inherently bad about favouring one political party over another. I think where "loyalty" becomes a negative is where it leads a person to see no wrong in one party, or no right in others. Or to be unable to acknowledege a wrong when it is clear and obvious to everybody else. Sadly all this achieves is to devalue such a person's view on any topic, because when opinion crosses the line into propaganda most normal people tend to switch off. I'm sure we can both think of a couple of examples on this forum, and indeed one other who used to be a rather prolific poster over here. Where indies are concerned I guess it is a matter of personal choice, but I do think Hounslow has had some quality independent councillors in recent years, and what is more councillors with clearly stated objectives (which is not always the case with independents). And once again, I make no comment about my own performance because I don't feel is possible for one to be objective under the circumstances. |
