Good work Jim. I remember as a kid walking along the tow path of the canal on a Sat/Sun afternoon with my parents from Brentford up to Hanwell & passing along the side of Brunels branch line fom Southall to Brentford Dock which crossed the GWR just next to P C World. If I recall correctly, there used to be a very large sign in green with white letters stating " British Rail" " Brentford Goods Depot" or words to that effect on the corner of Transport Ave/ Gt West Road as opposed to the "main station" which I'm sure was still called Brentford Central in those days? There is a small cafe/sandwich shop on the corner of Transport Ave now which I think used to be part of the weighbridge? for the depot which would have serviced the rear of what was then Firestones.
