Hi Ruth Keith and Neil seem to be our experts on the Magpie & Crown..but I don't ever recall seeing people eating from a plate there...not like the Express where they even serve packets of crisps on plates!! Most at the Magpie are hanging onto their glasses half full with real ale...including me sometimes! I must venture there again! I did have a look around the Ferry Lane hot spots on Saturday evening about 11pm..after leaving Fat Boys..and found the Old Fire Station busy..certainly at the bar, the Waterman's pub looked full up and booked up with a private party function, the Caribbean restaurant looked busy with some 30 customers..including a 40th birthday party group, next door the San Marco was closed and all the lights out!! (surprising that as I've had some outstanding meals there) Easing along to the new Night Club I found a charming doorman wishing to invite me in to swell the low level of occupancy!! I was not dressed for the occasion..and declined his kind offer. Back to Fat Boys! ![]() yes I must visit the Cocacabana sometime! ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt Feeling semi full after the double-starter..I thought I'd take it easy on the Fat Boys' main course..and seeking advice..was recommended the Mad Sa Man Curry! (A typical Muslim chicken..or beef..curry in a mild sauce with peanuts and potato) It tasted much better that it may look here..and it almost filled me up! ![]() ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt I enjoyed the sparkling water..but found the red French wine in the 2/10 category. (as you know 1 in 7 wine bottles are suppose to be off..but only 1 in a 100 people complain!) But dessert was on offer and I do like banana fritters and ice cream (are you reading this my doctor!!?) ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt ![]() My normal ration is 4 banana fritters..and so my body was shortchanged!! ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt We were so starved during and after the War (WW2)and the 1940's and 1950's that the hunger pains have never really left me!! ;0). ![]() No, I didn't order another portion..I paid the £36 bill including tip and left!! ![]() tttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt But I will be going back again. Fat Boys is a great local feature. Nigel you must return! |
