It's a great pity that visits to this much improved, and much welcome facility is spoiled...like so many places around by litterbugs. I made my maiden trip to the Waterman's Park last week to celebrate my recent move to Brentford after 80 odd years around the Borough. Like Anne, I first sat at the benches at the Waterman's. Several tables and nearby flowerbeds were littered with MacDonald fast food rubbish. The pathway by the River Wall was an eyeopener. At low tide one just sees some 100 old car and lorry tyres that have been dumped in the River by unscrupulous traders perhaps. The riverbank mud looked diluted with sewage. Even an old bicyle had been tossed in the River for good measure. Years ago an organisation called Thames 21 organised clear ups of the Brentford Riverside and most productive they were too. Thank goodness when high tide arrived to hide the disgusting sight. The children's play area was busy and must be joyful for many. Can you believe the litterbug adults were amongst them ..leaving behind their debris... continued.
