I would have thought that a degree own leeway would have been put in for the period where all of the parking in the High street has been wiped out. I see a bit of it has returned in the past 6 days. But for a few weeks most of the parking behind the high st in Lion Way and around Market Place has been occupied by Vans and lift trucks leaving nothing close by. Whilst its a pain for most on a quick stop, it's a real bind for those blue badge holders for who,m walking a few hundred metres is simply not feasible. I saw one park in a Loading Bay which is not very clearly signed but is not accessible for trucks because of the large trucks blocking the road. Blue Badges are vague about loading bays as loading or unloading a passenger who is disabled does constitute loading. And you can thus park on a yellow line to do this. But the warden watched and moved as soon as the disabled person was a short distance away. That seems so wrong. Why could the warden have not walked over and advised the person? I've seen them do that before on many occasions , even assisting a disabled person. So why the sudden draconian stance when the place is already on it's knees and many less able are finding things rather tough getting around? |
