To respond to Vanessa first, it's not just local residents that are getting 'fobbed off' because of coronavirus, but developers, consultants and so forth - and whilst I appreciate local residents might think they're more important at the same time nor is it good enough that applicants pay thousands of pounds in application fees and such like and are then fobbed off by delays because of covid. And that is country wide - as I always say Hounslow isn't remotely unique in this regard, and just in terms of the fundamental basics like applications getting validated and Officers being contactable, Hounslow is much better than many other authorities. As for Raymond's post, when you read the much mooted White Paper what the Government has published for consultation today you're going to be grateful for what you've got at the moment - because the White Paper is a 'Thatcherite' piece of work which will only broaden the gulf between the have and the have nots and will erode the relevance/control of local authorities. |
