The symptoms started with a runny nose then hit all the typical listed symptoms bar a cough.  Extreme debilitating pain in back and back of legs which progressed to total lethargy and pain and not wanting to eat or drink.  Temperature was very high then very low, wearing T-shirt’s and then jumpers. I understand there is a medical term for this and it is dangerous.

They were on their own so it took lots of patient phone calls working out what was going on.  At one stage they were disorientated, not making sense, so a 1.5 hour phone call to 111 followed and a nurse rang them and said they thought they had something.  Travel to Switzerland and near the Northern Italian border in the three weeks before going down with the something might give a clue.  Bearing in mind how ill they were and not up to making the call it is possible.  Take paracetamol.  Can you source paracetamol? I ask you.  They can’t get out of bed and are on their own .  I rang their Dr.  Receptionist was fending off enquiries with call the 111 virus line.  I had to ask very firmly to speak to the (very nice) Dr who promptly wrote a prescription for paracetamol.  Had to get somebody to pick it up as chemist is so inundated they can’t deliver.  Anyone want to help out deliver medicines for chemists that would be useful.  Should be a way of putting somebody who is calling with these symptoms and they are on their own in contact with a volunteer who can keep in contact by phone as the illness progresses or there will be lots of dead in beds.  Anyway, if the nurse logged it as something then it will go in the something statistic box.
