| Sadly the cost of retrieval way exceeds the cost of the raw material which is why so much raw material is still being extracted. Applies to a lot more than batteries. But what happened to spent lithium is something we should all be worried about. It is far more toxic than the concern of Fracking potentially contaminating water. Yet demand for Lithium simply to power devices is now huge and hybrid and electric vehicles are adding to that ecological imbalance. Problem is we live in a city and it is being deliberately overloaded. It does not matter what we do, the need to survive in overcrowded conurbation will outstrip any form of counter measures |
