| Hi The dreamliner fires were indeed very dangerous, which is why they grounded the whole fleet until they fixed the problem. The key bit there for me is they have fixed the problem. Saying fires happen in the old batteries is clearly true. I looked up what they did to resolve the issue and it seems unfair to say the replacement batteries would catch fire. https://www.geek.com/news/how-boeing-fixed-the-787-dreamliner-1552766/ Despite their best efforts, they could not force the new ones to catch fire. The reference to venting in that article was to do with battery leakage, not to venting to outside the aircraft, but perhaps they missed that bit out. |
