Regular Bus users will have noticed that TfL have stopped placing temporary bus stops nearby when the permanent stop is out of use due to road works or suchlike.

This is following an edict from the Mayor of London's policymakers to 'get people off the buses and used to walking or cycling' and is quite deliberate.

Fact is this is quite deluded and discriminatory against those who cannot walk distances or have needs. That is one of the core elements of Bus travel that his predecessor Ken Livingstone and his successor spent a fortune on. Making bus services accessible for all, reliable and frequent.

So far that is about the only major and all embracing achievement the office of Mayor of London has achieved.

TfL: is now an organisation of puppets and parachuted in politicos with no real pragmatic transport expertise and the rather slippery lawyer of a Mayor is disappointingly all hot air and no real substance. He made a big thing about being a son of a Bus Driver but clearly resents what his father did for a living and TfL staff know that he is no friend of road based public transport . Very little has been done for bus operating staff who earn poor money for an increasingly hard job and have a poor comparison to their colleagues on the Underground.  In London Transport Executive days , there was very little difference in conditions and yet costs were lower with a fully inclusive infrastructure. Noe TfL costs a fortune and consistently underachieves.

But in all honesty, LBHs own transport people need to lean on TfL to put in temporary bus stops as it reflects badly on LBH who get the blame and it has has a devastating effect not just on those who cannot walk to far and on local businesses which are already on the verge of being wiped out.

Action is needed and pretty quick.
