It is stranger than that. Guy indicated a few times that this parking block is primarily NOT for shoppers, but for local residents. And this raises a similar question - why is it not possible to build residential parking underneath residential buildings - like always is the case? As for the City Hall/GLA report, published 10 June, which states: ‘The proposed 508 car parking spaces are wholly unacceptable as they are likely to attract more car trips to Brentford High Street..." - this is very true and even funnier: no parking->no shoppers->no local trade->dead high street = Brentford so desirable by some(((. Unfortunately it is perhaps too late now - if construction of this block stops now - we will end up with another unfinished->derelict building. So typical for Brentford town centre((( |
