Trying to fit a quart into a pint pot is the key problem. And it does not really quite work. It has made the road far more hazardous for passing commercial traffic and BMR services commercial areas in both Hanwell and Brentford. The southbound direction still makes it safer and more convenient for riders than crossing twice and several junctions on the pathway. In Holland the set up is very different and the latest designs and installations make what is being done here look really half baked and retarded in almost every aspect. And yet the cost of implementation here is far higher than costs of new routes in Benelux. They do have 80 years experience but little seem to have rubbed off here. Quite why TfL do not use the Great West Road route as a test for the say, Arnhem system from green cover to special lighting designed to his all road users in an innovative way is no surprise, TfL and it's predecessor have always been rather myopic and arrogant to better more pragmatic initiatives from neighbouring countries. |
