That the management of the park is being (has been) transferred to the CIC is hardly news - it was being discussed in GetWestLondon in 2014. David Bowler is the employed CEO and he reports to a board consisting of 3 LBH nominees and three LBE. The 3 LBH are Victoria Lawson (Director of Customer Relations, Environment and Culture - ie an officer), Howard Simmons (a retired LBH officer and someone engaged in the park for many years) and Steve Clark (a former senior civil servant and a Brentford resident). I don't know the LBE ones except the officer, Keith Townsend (Executive Director, Environment and Customer Services). Keith currently acts as Chair. The notice is a technical one to grant a lease to the CIC to facilitate them in getting on with management of the park and museum, specifically dealing with sub-tenants etc. It requires approval by DCLG. I would say that, formal minuted meetings notwithstanding, engagement between park and public (and councillors, as it happens) has been some way short of exemplary in the past. We have already had some discussions with David Bowler and 'our' trustees about a more inclusive arrangement in future and will progress this once the dust has settled and the museum opened (hopefully 23rd June) |
