Isn't/wasn't Hounslow Homes part of the Council like Lampton 360?  Or was that a contracted company like Carillion?   Very confused with all these smoked mirrors.

I simply don't understand why our freely elected Councillors should feel that they are more capable than the specialist individual companies to run such a wide selection of  services AND also make a profit.   That is not their remit. The Council is supposed to provide efficient services, not run a business and show a profit (which they've never been able to do anyway).   Their job is to employ people skilled and knowledgable, fully able to negotiate firm, water-tight  contracts with the various specialist contractors and enforce the contracts.      Under the present regime, it's a bit like a Councillor deciding they know more about say hip replacement operations than a specialist orthopedic surgeon!   DOTTY!   They have been voted to SERVE, not make a profit.  If that is their aim, they should have gone into business, not into a local council!
