| Did Hounslow (Chiswick especially) need this entire new recycling and waste set up? The previous system was by no means perfect but surely could have been tweaked and improved without the huge expense of building a new recycling centre and the vast sums spent buying and leasing all those new glossy lorries & trucks; the painted logos, the new uniforms for the crews, on and on goes the expense. On top of that, there's the cost of the bins, boxes etc etc and the disposal costs of throwing away the old bags and bins. Who paid for all that? I can't see that any resident has gained from this vast expense. I feel the money could have better spent on many other priorities - the youth clubs, close to John Todd's heart, for one! |
