| I found myself in agreement with our new MP Ruth Cadbury's criticisms of the recent Budget, something she clearly felt strongly enough about to send out a press statement at the time, which was picked up by this website: http://www.brentfordtw8.com/default.asp?section=info&link=http://neighbournet.com/server/common/ruthcadbury026.htm I was somewhat confused and disappointed therefore by her decision to abstain on the government's Welfare Bill, rather than oppose it as the SNP, Green Party, Plaid, various MPs across the spectrum in Northern Ireland and 48 decent souls in Ruth's own party managed to do. An explanation would be helpful, I'm sure, especially to those families who will be plunged further into hardship by this cruel and insensitive piece of legislation. Or maybe somebody from the local party would like to comment? |
