This smacks to me of a political two-step by the Tories. First we get the grotesque misrepresentation of the Tory actions through Hounslow Matters magazine and the council website, now there is political pressure from outside for the expansion. The next we'll hear is that Johnson will intervene on Thames Water's side at Tracey's request and the Hounslow Tories will be able to say it was nothing to do with them, it was out of their hands.
This is not about clean air or clean water, it is about the Tories having one eye on another hefty donation from Thames Water. I can't understand why the ICG has allowed whoever is responsible for this organised deception to get away with it, that's assuming that they aren't working behind the scenes to put the record straight. Is it safe to assume that Hounslow's PR team are now working only for the Tories?
For all their faults the Labour Party position on this has been consistent and they have had the decency not to engage in saying one thing and then pretending to residents that they are saying the opposite. I hope the Tories are made to pay for their duplicity. |
