| New buses are starting to be introduced on the 65. They seemed rather good, but I found out the hard way that they have a rather disturbing flaw. The rather bone judderingly seats are not just uncomfortable, they have a huge gap between the double seatbacks. Wide enough for a pickpocket to be able to access a coat pocket or a bag with ease. I found this out this afternoon as some youths managed to relieve me of my phone seconds after I had been using it. What is embarrassing for me is that it also happened to a neighbour just yesterday although he managed to grab the pickpockets arm. I thought the phone was well secured but it is impossible on this bus seat especially when it is packed. I don't hold much hope for the CCTV spotting this as it is so easy for them to block the camera view. So please beware. But who on earth at TfL approves such awful seats? The hard uncomfortable seats are bad enough but this security flaw has to question the ability of those in charge. And, is it just me, but is the removal of all the via points on the front destinations of a bus a rather retrograde and confusing step that seems utterly stupid? One would think TfL had more important things to do...like get the type approval of new buses right. |
