| There is more regulation now or soon to come into force about the energy standards that homes meet. This was set up a long time ago but is/has taken a long time to be put in place and it is expensive and very difficult to do to some homes. You get the impression that initially the idea was that it would be encouragement for a lot of homes to be knocked down and replaced (eg with better insulation and ventilation).
