Such a great initiative! Gardening and growing even the smallest number of plants can be really satisfying. Herbs are particularly satisfying - especially ones you use fairly sparingly (well unless you have masses). Cultivate London have done some wonderful work over the years. After an adult (not me) fell onto and broke some of my kitchen basil plant I just put the broken off branches into water to save them for later and forgot but hey presto - I now have several new rooted plants. If I'd thought about propagating it I'd have worried about it and probably wouldn't have succeeded. Some plants are easier to grow than others of course. If you do have masses of basil then do try making your own pesto - it is truly fabulous compared to pesto from a jar!
